Days Activities

Day 1:Itinerary

Begin the day with an early morning pick up from Nairobi and drive north to Chogoria town and onwards to the park gate. The hike starts here with a trek to the scenic Nithi Falls. The trail follows a dense forest covered with both indigenous and man-made trees. From the falls, the hike then proceeds on wet moorlands and after covering a trek close to 7km, the trail leads to a scenic landscape of the breathtaking Lake Ellis. On a clear day, Lake Ellis offers stunning views of the peaks and fresh crisp air. Spend the Night at Lake Ellis on Tents.

Day 2

After Breakfast a short Hike to Mugi Hills then descend down to the Gate for pick up.

Chogoria–Naromoru route (3 Nights,4 Days)

Days Activities

Day 1

Drive to Meru Banda’s, Start the trek to Lake Ellis approximately 3-4 hrs walk. Overnight on tents at 3470m.

Day 2

 Lake Elis to Lake Michaelson (3950m) After breakfast, you will follow the trail as it leads up through glades of montane forest climbing away from Lake Ellis on its west side, across moorland to a ridge which eventually joins the main Chogoria trail. Beautiful views of Vivienne Falls and the Gorges Valley on descent to the picturesque campsite next to Lake Michaelson.pver night at lake Michelson.

Day 3: Lake Michaelson To Simba Tarn (4600m) 2-3 hrs Walking

After Breakfast youll enjoy fishing until mid Day, before start a hike to samba tarn,  since today hike is rather short. Climbing away from the beautiful Lake Michaelson ascend into the alpine zone , a world of rock and ice as we go up towards the main peaks, leaving behind the giant lobelias and groundsels and onto glacial moraine. A last short, sharp scree slope takes us to Simba Tarn (4620m), where we overnight. This will be a cold night depending with the weather on that day, Dinner and overnight in the Camp.

Day 4: Simba Tarn Via Point Lenana (4895m) To Met Station (3050m) - 7 hrs walking time

An early start (at around 5 a.m.) for a cup of tea or coffee relatively easy 2-hour climb up to Point Lenana  the trekking summit (4,985m). Descend down Teleki Valley to mackinders camp for Breakfast ,the proceed down for pick up and back to the lodge .
