Days Activities

Day 1

Morning spent sorting and organizing equipment for the mountain trek and be driven to the Sirimon gate.
Begin the climb with an easy 3 hrs hike through equatorial forest to Judmaier’s Camp (3,300m) for the
overnight stay at high altitude in mountain tents.

Day 2

Hike up to the Mackinder’s Valley one of the broadest valleys created by a receding glacier which boasts spectacular views of the main peaks – Batian and Nelion.
Overnight at Shipton’s Camp just below the main peaks.
Walking time is approximately 6-7 hours and overnight in high altitude tents.

Day 3: Acclimatization at Horombo Hut

Alpine ascent to Pt. Lenana (4,985m) along the north faces little use by tourists. Four hours of stiff walking to the summit. Then descend to Mintos Camp for breakfast and a welcome rest.
In the afternoon have a walk down to Vivian Falls, and Lake Michealson and marvel at the breathtaking views of the Gorges Valley.
Proceed back to the camp for dinner and overnight in tents

Day 4

After breakfast descend down to Meru Bandas for an overnight stay. At the camp, there are refreshing drinks on sale and the opportunity to enjoy a hot shower.

Day 5

After breakfast, you will be picked up by vehicle from Meru Bandas and drive through the beautiful natural forest to Chogoria town and take the scenic route back to Naro Moru River Lodge via Meru Town and Nanyuki.
